About Us
Together we share the mission of Christ
Pope Francis reminds us that we are not just part of the Church’s mission – we are the mission. In Evangelii Gaudium he writes:
bringing light, blessing, enlivening, raising up, healing and freeing.
This vision is at the heart of the Pontifical Mission Societies in South Africa, Botswana and eSwatini. Working in communion with the Holy Father, we support the mission of the Church where it is young, struggling, or in need – bringing practical help and the hope of the Gospel to people everywhere, regardless of background or belief.
Sometimes that support means building classrooms for catechesis. Other times, it means assisting with the formation of future priests and religious, or helping a local parish reach out to its community. In all things, we seek to reveal God’s love and to strengthen the witness of the local Church.
By praying, giving, or raising awareness, you share in this mission. You become part of God’s work in the world – proclaiming the Gospel, building the Church, and transforming lives.
